Senator Ted Cruz has a lead over Democrat Beto O’Rourke heading into the final two weeks of the November election, according to a new poll released this week.
On Wednesday, Reuters released a poll showing Cruz with a 5 point lead over O’Rourke, 49 percent to 44 percent. The poll surveyed likely voters, with another poll among “all adults,” showing Cruz trailing the El Paso Democrat, 40 percent to 38 percent.
Neither poll included the third candidate in the contest, Libertarian Neal Dikeman.
In the race for governor, the poll also found Republican Governor Greg Abbott with a solid lead over Democrat Lupe Valdez. Among likely voters, Abbott leads Valdez, 53 percent to 38 percent. Among “all adults,” Abbott still leads, 42 percent to 35 percent.
This poll did not include Libertarian Mark Tippetts as an option.
