A man has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Amarillo Police report.
According to APD, officers were dispatched Tuesday morning to the 3600 block of Southwest 26th Avenue on a possible family fight. Officers made contact with both parties, and during the investigation, authorities say the male suspect lied about his identity. Officers discovered a warrant for the man, and the suspect reportedly tried to run for officers but was tasered twice. The probes of the taser did not make proper contact and suspect was able to detach them.
Officers say the suspect then pulled a knife and was quickly disarmed and taken into custody. One officer received a cut to one of his hand and both officers received other injuries, although none were life-threatening.
One officer was transported to a local hospital. The other officer received treatment at the scene.
The male subject in the case has been identified as Travis Turner, 25. Turner was booked into the Potter County Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Failure to identify-fugitive, Evading arrest on foot, and another warrant.
