Amarillo City Councilmembers will decide the first reading of an ordinance raising property taxes on Tuesday.
During Tuesday's meeting of the Amarillo City Council, Councilmembers will vote on the first reading of an ordinance approving an effective tax increase in Amarillo. If approved, residents can expect to see about a 1.8 percent effective maintenance and operations tax increase over the upcoming fiscal year.
Also, on Tuesday, Councilmembers will consider first readings to approve a variety of budgets and contracts for work on Rick Husband International Airport. Councilmembers will also accept a refugee medical screening grant from the U.S. Committee for Refugees and lmmigrants and additional funding on an HIV prevention grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
The Amarillo City Council will meet on Tuesday, September 11th at 1pm in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue). Public comment will be held at noon.
