Editorial: What Are You Waiting For?

Do you want to make your community a better place? If so, then I might have a great opportunity for you.

Through February 15th, filing will be ongoing for candidates to run for seats on the Amarillo City Council, Amarillo College Board of Regents, and various local school boards. Each of these offices hold unique responsibilities and abilities to help better Amarillo’s neighborhoods and communities. Those who serve on this board also have the unique responsibility of managing the organization’s spending, budgeting, and taxing habits. If you are unhappy with rising taxes or inflated spending, then this could be a great option for you.

Most offices allow candidates to file absolutely free. $100 will get you on the ballot for the Amarillo City Council or mayoral seats. This is a small investment to have a say in how your City Hall does business, especially considering the need for new leadership after observing the local government over the past two years.

This is a big chance for you to help improve your community. What are you waiting for? File today and get your message out there. Amarillo needs good candidates to make positive change, and you might be one of those candidates.
