Castro Reaches October Fundraising Goal, Campaign Says

Former HUD Secretary Julian Castro has reached his fundraising goal after threatening to drop out of the 2020 presidential race, his campaign confirmed Friday.

Castro had told supporters in early October that he would drop out of the presidential race if he was unable to raise $800,000 by the end of the month. The campaign continued asking for donations at the end of the month, with the campaign saying Castro was 20,000 donors short of his goal on October 30th.

The campaign is now shifting gears, with the goal of qualifying Castro for the November and December presidential debates. Castro is currently short the polling requirements for both debates and has not qualified on the donor threshold for the December debate.
