Midland Mayor Jerry Morales was voted out of office by Midland voters on Tuesday night.
According to election results from the city, Midland voters elected pastor Patrick Payton as their new mayor from a three candidate field. That field also included incumbent Jerry F. Morales, who was voted out of office after serving as mayor since 2014. Payton netted 52 percent of the vote against Morales’ 32 percent and Jenny Cudd’s 16 percent.
The results came after some confusion due to issues with voting machines. Once the results were released, it was reported that Morales called Payton to concede.
