Governor Greg Abbott discussed his top issues during the State of the State address this week.
On Tuesday, Abbott addressed the Texas Legislature, asking legislators to focus on school finance reform, property tax reform, teacher pay increases, school safety, disaster response and mental health programs. These issues were outlined by Abbott as his legislative priorities, with a focus on bipartisan issues like school finance that have been supported by legislators on both sides.
“I am honored to work with [Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick] and Speaker Bonnen as we embark on this new session,” Abbott said, according to the Texas Scorecard. “A session, by the way, that will etch landmark achievements into this already historic chamber.”
