Amarillo Pioneer to Host Local Candidate Forum

Coming off 2018’s successful Amarillo Pioneer candidate forum, plans have been made to let even more candidates have their voices heard this year.

On April 11th, the Amarillo Pioneer will host a candidate forum at the American Legion Post 54 in Amarillo (617 SW 7th), featuring candidates running for Amarillo mayor, City Council, Amarillo College Board of Regents, and Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees. Candidates from other local school boards in the Amarillo area will also be invited.

“This event will be a great chance for candidates to make their pitches to voters, just weeks before early voting starts,” Amarillo Pioneer editor Thomas Warren III says. “We’re hoping all interested voters attend to find out which candidates best represent them and what they want to see in Amarillo over the next two years.”

Invitations for candidates will be sent next weekend, following the conclusion of filing for spots on the ballot. All candidates, including challengers and incumbents, will be invited to attend.

The forum will feature introductions from all of the candidates, followed by questions submitted by the audience. Questions will be asked by a moderator, who shall be named soon. Time will also be allotted for candidates and voters to mingle, prior to and following the event.

Introductions will begin at 6:30PM on April 11th. For details, please visit https://www.facebook.com/events/545174122654365/.
