Senator Ted Cruz has a history with former El Paso Congressman Beto O’Rourke, and it was on full display this week.
On Thursday, O’Rourke launched a bid for president, seeking the Democratic nomination for the nation’s top job. O’Rourke’s launch followed his narrow loss to Senator Cruz in November 2018.
Following O’Rourke’s announcement, Cruz emailed his supporters, touting the creation of the #BeatBeto Fund. Cruz said he decided to launch the fund to help “expose Beto O’Rourke’s far left policies.” In the fundraising email, supporters were asked to give at least $5 to become a founding member of the #BeatBeto Fund.
