WTAMU to Present 'Carmina Burana'

Mounting a massive collaborative event, West Texas A&M University will present Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in the Branding Iron Theatre (BIT) on campus at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 31.

WTAMU Dance, Choir, and Symphony Orchestra students will be joined by the Amarillo Boy Choir and Phi Mu Alpha Men’s Chorus – nearly 200 performers in all.  Soprano Sarah Beckham Turner, tenor Matthew Oglesby, and baritone Brian Kuhnert will lend their voices as featured soloists.  The production is choreographed by Leslie Williams and conducted by Mark Bartley.

Portions of Carmina Burana have been used in countless movies, video games, and television commercials.  Its secular texts, based on medieval poems, illustrate such universal topics as fortune and fate, love and desire, and the anticipation and celebration of the return of springtime.

For reservations, please call the BIT Box Office at 806-651-2804. General admission tickets are $15 each or free with a Buff Gold Card.
