Amarillo College Common Lobby Gallery to Feature Inclusions in 'Freelancer'

Artwork accepted for publication in Amarillo College’s literary journal Freelancer will be on display April 4-27 at AC’s Common Lobby Gallery, and the exhibit will open with fanfare that recognizes the journal’s contributing authors, as well.

A reception for the Freelancer Journal Art Show is from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 and will feature an awards ceremony, art and artists, readings by the authors of poems and stories printed in this year’s journal, and refreshments.

The event is free and open to the public.

Freelancer is an annual springtime publication of the AC English Department and is designed to showcase student, faculty and staff writing and artwork of all kinds. Submissions are competitively judged for acceptance by Freelancer staff.

The Common Lobby Gallery is located in the foyer at the entrance to the Concert Hall Theater in the Music Building on the Washington Street Campus.

“This year’s Freelancer contains some marvelous creations, and we’re delighted to be able to display them,” said Steven Cost, associate professor art and curator of the Common Lobby Gallery.

“This is one of the Gallery’s most highly anticipated attractions of the year, and the opening reception is always something special because the spotlight is on our authors and our artists, alike.”
