Outstanding student paintings and photographs produced in a pair of upper-level Creative Arts classes at Amarillo College – Photography Portfolio and Art Painting I – will be on display May 1-9 at the Common Lobby Gallery.
The Showcase for Art and Photography will commence with an artists’ reception from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, and both the reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
Steven Cost, associate professor art and curator of the Common Lobby Gallery, says the Showcase will primarily feature the “capstone” work of AC sophomores.
“Essentially, we are showcasing the best of work of our higher-level photography and painting classes,” Cost said. “Many of these students will be graduating soon.”
AC’s Common Lobby Gallery is located in the foyer at the entrance to the Concert Hall Theater in the Music Building on the Washington Street Campus.
