Justice Jeff Brown has been selected by President Donald Trump to fill a federal court vacancy.
According to a release from the White House, Trump has nominated Brown, a Texas Supreme Court Justice, for a spot on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Brown is an alum of the University of Houston Law Center and has served on the state’s highest bench since 2013. He was most recently re-elected to his position in November 2018.
If Brown is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, it will spark the second vacancy on the Texas Supreme Court this year. Governor Greg Abbott selected Judge Brett Busby for a spot on the court earlier this year, following the resignation of Justice Phil Johnson.
