Each year, Disability Services at Amarillo College spearheads a community-wide luncheon to raise both awareness of and funding for students with disabilities who are committed to Living Independently Through Education (LITE).
This year’s LITE Scholarship Luncheon, catered by Feldman’s Wrong Way Diner, kicks off at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 26 in the Amarillo Civic Center Grand Plaza.
Tickets are $20 and available by contacting Olga Kleffman at (806) 371-5001 or okleffman@actx.edu.
The annual event will once again feature the traditionally extensive silent auction, and all proceeds from the luncheon will benefit AC students with disabilities. Funds will used to provide tuition, fees, books, supplies and special equipment.
More than 550 AC students have been awarded the LITE Scholarship since 2002.
The luncheon program will focus on a celebration of student success – currently there are in excess of 500 students with disabilities attending AC – and the 2019 LITE Outstanding Students will be introduced.
AC’s Disability Services appreciates the support of the Panhandle Coalition for Transition Services, the Civic Center, and the many other organizations, businesses and agencies that contribute to the luncheon and to the students it ultimately serves.
