AC to Host Panel With Texas Tech on Veterinary Careers

Provided

Students at Amarillo College can learn about veterinary medicine and how to embark on a pathway to careers in the field during a panel discussion from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 on the Washington Street Campus.

The event will be at The Underground - the basement in the Ware Student Commons - and panelists will include faculty and administrators from the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo, and other experts in the field.

What may surprise attendees most is the little-known fact that students who have completed as few as 48 semester credit hours at a college or university are eligible for acceptance into Tech's School of Veterinary Medicine.

"It's true," said Cassie Montgomery, director of outreach services at AC, "Texas Tech does not require a degree for admission to its vet school. They are looking for a diverse population of good students whose life experiences and passion for becoming a veterinarian set them apart.

"This panel discussion will address career opportunities in veterinary medicine and what attributes Tech is looking for among applicants and how to apply. AC can definitely put you on a fast-track to becoming a veterinarian at Texas Tech."

This event is also open to the public, and a limited number of free lunches will be provided on a first-come basis.

For more information about the panel discussion, please call Montgomery at 806-345-5600 or cassie.montgomery@actx.edu.
