One Texas judge announced his intention to run for the Texas Supreme Court this week. At the same time, his announcement triggered an accidental resignation.
Judge Bill McLeod, of Harris County, reportedly announced he would be running for the Texas Supreme Court less than three months after first being elected, KHOU News reports. However, he then saw that Article 16, Section 65 deemed his announcement an effective resignation.
McLeod’s supporters are hoping that Harris County commissioners will select as the replacement for his own term until a special election can be held, the TV station reports.
