Sorry, Amarillo. We are not getting a Whole Foods anytime soon.
On Monday, voters on Interstate 27 saw a billboard declaring that Amarillo would be seeing a new Whole Foods location opened downtown next year. Some drivers were extremely excited, posting the billboard on Facebook. However, a small disclaimer at the bottom alerted voters that the billboard is a prank.
Local television anchor Andy Justus was one of those disappointed by the April Fool’s prank, calling it the “cruelest April Fool’s joke” in Amarillo.
Randy Burkett, owner of Burkett Outdoor Advertising, posted the billboard on Facebook, telling local residents that it was a “good one.”
