Education Union Backs Malone in AISD Special Election

Local attorney Robin R. Malone has earned the support of an influential local union ahead of the upcoming May 4th election.

On Tuesday, the Amarillo Education Association announced its support of Malone for the May 4th Amarillo ISD special election. Malone is running unopposed to serve out the final two years of former trustee James Allen's term.

“Robin Malone has been an asset to our school district since her appointment in September,” organization president Aaron Phillips said. “She understands the diverse needs of our students, as well as the importance of supporting teachers and staff. I believe we can count on Robin Malone to be a strong voice in leading Amarillo ISD through its biggest challenges and in building a strong community for all of our children.”

The group is also backing John Betancourt, an incumbent, and challenger Kimberly Anderson for seats in the contested cumulative race for three seats on the board.
