The Amarillo Sod Poodles were unsuccessful in their first ever home game this week, moving their season record to 1-4.
On Monday night, the Sod Poodles played their first ever game at Hodgetown in downtown Amarillo, with a capacity crowd on hand. The game pitted the Poodles against the Midland Rockhounds, as the Amarillo team was looking to come back from dropping three games to the Corpus Christi Hooks last week.
After a back and forth contest, the game eventually went to extra innings, where Midland was able to claim the final run. One notable occurrence that came from Monday night was the first home run at Hodgetown being claimed by Sod Poodles center fielder Buddy Reed.
