City Hosting Thompson Pool Survey

What should the future hold for the Thompson Park pool? That’s what City officials want you to decide.

This week, the City of Amarillo launched a community survey to collect feedback on a possible new pool to replace the Thompson Park pool. Options in the community survey ask residents to rate their opinions on a variety of pool options, including splash pads, lazy rivers, and regular municipal pools. Residents are also asked to gauge their support for various entry fees, ranging from $3 to $8.

As we previously reported, residents were stunned and saddened by the closing of the Thompson Park pool late last year, as City officials described what they saw a structural and safety hazards. According to the survey, no funding has been secured for a new pool, but the survey is being conducted to gauge interest for a plan in the future, if funding becomes available.
