Later this month, Amarillo will have three new school board trustees.
On Saturday, voters ousted incumbents Jim Austin and John Betancourt from the Amarillo ISD school board, while also filling the seat vacated by F. Scott Flow. Voters selected commercial realtor Dick Ford, educator Kimberly Anderson, and Pantex manager Alonzo Everhart as the new trustees for the school district.
Betancourt had served on the board since 2015, while Austin has served since 2002. Other candidates unsuccessful in claiming a seat on the board included Rob Parker, Aaron Ladd, and Hobert Brown, Jr.
The next Amarillo ISD election will be held in 2021, at which time incumbents Renee McCown, Cristy Cooper Wilkinson, Robin R. Malone, and John Ben Blanchard will be up for re-election.
