WTAMU Receives National Fundraising Award

For the first time, West Texas A&M University has been recognized by the Council of Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with the 2019 CASE Educational Fundraising Award.

CASE’s Educational Fundraising Awards recognize exemplary fundraising programs and activities in four different designations based on performance, improvement and excellence. Much more than raising money, excellence also is determined by the breadth and depth of sources developed for future fundraising.

Selection was made based on the judges’ blind analysis on three years of fundraising data by WT submitted to CASE’s AMAtlas Voluntary Support of Education Survey.

“The beauty of this awards program is that we look at the data not knowing what institution is being represented. In showcasing these best-of-the-best programs, CASE helps its members identify institutions doing smart and innovative work from which everyone can learn,” Sue Kubik, an accomplished educational fundraiser and long-time CASE volunteer who led the judging panel this year, said.

There were 16 winners recognized again and 29 new awardees. WT is one of only three universities in Texas receiving an award from CASE this year; the others are the University of Texas and University of Houston.

“Recognition by CASE, our professional peer organization for fundraising in higher education, affirms what we in the Texas Panhandle already know; WT is on the move, growing, and improving the lives of not only our students, but the residents in the whole region,” Dr. Todd Rasberry, vice president for Philanthropy and Alumni Relations at WT, said. “We have a lot of exciting work ahead and milestones to achieve as we raise funds to fulfill the vision for the University outlined in the WT 125: From the Panhandle to the World plan.”

WT stood out for overall improvement among a group of more than 90 colleges and universities to receive awards this year. WT not only demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism and best practice in its fundraising efforts, it was recognized for contribution to the betterment of educational advancement worldwide by serving as a model to which others can aspire.
