Texas voters support the job President Donald Trump is doing in office, according to a new poll from the Texas Tribune.
According to the new Texas Tribune/University of Texas poll, 52 percent of voters say they support the job President Trump is doing in office, while 44 percent disapprove. The poll also found Texas voters evenly split on Trump’s 2020 re-election bid, with 50 percent saying they will definitely or probably support Trump in 2020, while 50 percent said they definitely or probably will not support Trump in 2020.
At the same time, voters also gave passing grades to Texas’ top elected officials, U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R) and John Cornyn (R), Governor Greg Abbott (R), Lt. Governor Dan Patrick (R), and House Speaker Dennis Bonnen (R). The poll reported a net favorability of 20 points for Abbott, 10 points for Patrick, 8 points for Cruz, 3 points for Cornyn, and 2 points for Bonnen. According to the poll results, Bonnen is the least known and least popular Texas official, while Cruz is the best known official and Abbott is the most popular official.
