Former Florida U.S. Rep. Allen West is looking at getting back into the political arena, this time against Texas Republican chairman James Dickey.
West announced in a YouTube stream last week that he is considering running against Dickey for the Texas Republican Party chairmanship in 2020. West’s potential bid against Dickey would mark the Tea Party icon’s first foray into electoral politics since losing to Patrick Murphy in a Florida congressional race in 2012.
The news was also greeted by Dickey on July 3rd announcing his intention to run for re-election to his position after most recently being re-elected by state party delegates in 2018 over challenger Cindy Asche.
There is no word yet regarding whether Asche or any other potential challengers to Dickey may also enter the state chairman race.
