Amarillo City Council members will have a packed agenda when they convene for their regularly scheduled meeting next week.
On Tuesday, the Amarillo City Council will consider voting to approve an ordinance aimed at providing participation in the Texas Municipal Retirement System for employees of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation. According to a memo attached to the meeting agenda, the AEDC Board of Directors has requested the change and the TMRS has reviewed the request and “has indicated that there will be no impact to the employer contributions rate.” If approved, the effective date of change would be October 1, 2019.
Also, according to the agenda, the City Council will consider voting Tuesday to allow the Amarillo Veterans Affairs medical center to operate on the City of Amarillo radio communications system. Council will also discuss guidelines for tax incentives and will consider the proposed 2019-2020 tax rate for the City of Amarillo.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 20, in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (601 South Buchanan). The meeting will begin at 1PM followed by a noon public comment session.
