Amarillo College has been ranked by Nursing Explorer for having two of the best-value nursing programs in Texas.
The annual ranking is based on a review of 95 nursing schools in the state, and AC came in at No. 2 among RN programs and No. 3 among LVN programs.
Nursing Explorer uses each nursing program’s pass rates on the national licensure exam – the NCLEX – and each school’s net-price to determine its best-value rankings.
The ranking organization sources general institutional information from the Department of Education and a list of approved nursing programs from the Texas Board of Nursing.
AC’s Associate Degree of Nursing (or RN) program most recently posted a 93.05 pass rate on the NCLEX, while AC’s Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program’s pass rate is 92.70. It is worth noting that programs which score above 90 percent earn Commendations from the Texas Board of Nursing.
Additionally, AC nursing programs are highly affordable; each is listed as having a net-price of $4,089.
“We are extremely gratified to be so highly ranked,” said Dr. Sandra Brannan, Director of Nursing at AC. “I think what sets us apart is the personal contact our faculty have with students. Our overall mentoring plan is highly robust.
“I believe that our students receive a great deal of individual attention that truly makes a difference when it comes to student success.”
