With the close of books on December 31st, candidates are now required to file campaign finance reports for the final quarter of the year, giving voters, observers, and pundits an idea of a candidate’s financial strength heading into the March 3, 2020 primary.
Locally, one candidate has already filed his finance report in the race to replace U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon). Jason Foglesong, an Amarillo resident seeking the Republican nomination, reported to the Federal Election Commission that his campaign raised $3,255 during the most recent reporting period. Democrat Greg Sagan is the only other candidate with any 2019-2020 campaign cycle reports available, but the FEC does not appear to show a report for the most recent cycle filed by Sagan.
Candidates have until January 31, 2020 to file their reports for the 2019 fourth quarter cycle.
