U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Arizona) is the latest lawmaker to throw their support behind 13th Congressional District hopeful Chris Ekstrom.
Last week, Biggs, who chairs the House Freedom Caucus, announced his support for Ekstrom in the crowded Republican primary race to replace U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon). In a statement published by the Texas Scorecard, Biggs encouraged conservative voters to cast their votes for the businessman Ekstrom.
“There’s a reason that conservatives are rallying around Chris Ekstrom’s campaign: because he is the real deal,” Biggs said. “Ekstrom is a successful businessman and courageous conservative who has a proven track record of fighting for our values. If you want more conservatives in Washington to support President Trump, build the wall, and reign in spending, then I urge you to vote for Chris Ekstrom. I strongly endorse him and look forward to working to make sure he’s elected.”
Biggs is not the first lawmaker to back Ekstrom in the race. U.S. Reps. Ron Wright and Mo Brooks have also endorsed Ekstrom.
Ekstrom is one of fifteen Republicans running to replace Thornberry in 2020. Voters will decide this primary on March 3rd.
