Amarillo City Councilwoman Elaine Hays has picked up the endorsement of a local police union in her bid to replace U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).

On Wednesday, Hays announced that she has been endorsed by the Amarillo Police Officers’ Association in her campaign for the U.S. House. The endorsement was made public through Hays’ campaign social media.

The Councilwoman is not the only local candidate to win a major law enforcement endorsement this week. On Tuesday, Republican Vance Snider announced his endorsement by King County Sheriff Mike McWhirter.

Hays is one of fifteen Republicans hoping to replace Thornberry in 2020. Voters will decide this primary on March 3rd.
