Jay Johnson, Republican

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position in 2020?

Life experiences, 16 years plus on Pampa ISB board of trustees, co-chaired citizens committee to pass a $49 million bond election in Pampa, ran a successful dental business for 43 years, service on many boards and foundations, eagerness and passion to improve Public education in Texas


John Betancourt, Democrat

Occupation: Licensed Funeral Consultant and Aftercare Specialist and represent Funeral Directors across West Texas

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position in 2020?

I am the best candidate because I am a former School Board Trustee of one of the largest school districts in the state. I am a the former President of the Panhandle Area Association of School Boards for Region 16. I have served as a State Director for Region 5A for the Mexican American School Board Association. In addition, I have served on several city, civic, and non-profit boards. I have the experience and passion in what it takes to advocate for our West Texas students and staff at the state level. Every student in Texas deserves a quality education! Every teacher and staff member who works in our Texas Public Schools matters and deserves to be treated as a respected professional with competitive pay and benefits! Elect me on November 3rd so I can advocate for you and your students in Austin.
