U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) joined a bipartisan House majority on Friday in passing a resolution condemning QAnon.
Thornberry voted in favor of the resolution, which passed 371-18-1 in the House on Friday. Four Texas Republicans voted against the resolution, including Lubbock’s U.S. Representative, Republican Jodey Arrington.
According to the bill’s text, the resolution “condemns QAnon and rejects the conspiracy theories it promotes,” “condemns all other groups and ideologies, from the far left to the far right, that contribute to the spread of unfounded conspiracy theories and that encourage Americans to destroy public and private property and attack law enforcement officers,” and encourages the Federal Bureau of Investigation “to continue to strengthen their focus on preventing violence, threats, harassment, and other criminal activity by extremists motivated by fringe political conspiracy theories,” among other things.
