Rob Sherwin has been selected as the interim director for Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare.
Sherwin’s appointment was announced on Thursday, as the City of Amarillo seeks to find a new director for the department. Sherwin has a background with law enforcement, including serving as a deputy chief with the Dallas Police Department. He also served as acting director for Dallas Animal Services and as interim police chief for the City of Keene. Additionally, Sherwin served as police chief in Forney.
“There are great employees working for AAMW, and they are dedicated to the combined mission of public safety regarding stray animals and compassionate care for the animals we have here at the shelter,” Sherwin said in a statement. “I look forward to the opportunity for rapid improvements and operational updates, and it is exciting to see such potential in AAMW.”
