A prominent political action committee aimed at electing conservative women has thrown its support behind of the candidates running to replace U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).
Maggie’s List announced its endorsement of Amarillo City Councilwoman Elaine Hays for Congress on Monday. This is one of Hays’ first major endorsements from an entity not based in the Texas Panhandle.
“I am absolutely humbled and invigorated by the endorsement from such a well-respected and influential organization,” Hays said in a statement. “Maggie’s List’s principles are rooted in fiscal conservatism and less government, which undoubtedly align with what I would bring to the table in representing the conservative values of our district.”
Hays is one of 15 Republicans running to replace Thornberry in 2020. Voters will decide this primary on March 3.
