By Jason Foglesong, Republican candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, District 13

Hello,

My name is Jason Foglesong.  I’ve met a lot of you over the past few weeks, but not nearly as many as I had hoped.  I need your vote and support; although there are a lot of great candidates in this race, I believe I am the best choice to represent you in the House.  Mac Thornberry, love him or hate him, has left some big shoes to fill.

I’m writing today to ask you to get out and vote for me.  Tell your family and friends; spread it on your social media.

I’m a regular person, like most of you.  I have no political connections, no ties to Washington.  There are no unions, no lobbies, no special interests backing me.  No one stands behind me with a bag of money, and I owe nothing to anyone except the voters.  This is as it should be. Your voice in Washington DC should be one of you. Lobbyists have their place and their function – they inform a Representative of the interests of businesses and organizations within his or her district.  As your Representative, it’s my job to be the voice of the common citizen in Washington.

As your taxes will pay my salary, it’s my job to be available and transparent.  My promises are simple – I will bring you proper representation by making myself available in our district.  I will be present in the evenings and on weekends, in YOUR town, when Congress is in recess. There is more to District 13 than Amarillo and Wichita Falls. It’s my job to visit all the smaller towns who deserve to have their interests and needs heard.  I believe our elected officials, from our city government, to Austin, all the way to Congress have lost sight of their duty to represent We the People. Their events and timings prove this – voters are at work when everything is happening, and that is unacceptable.  I’m in this race to end that.

When Congress is in session, I (and my staff) will conduct a robust digital outreach campaign, to ensure you can see what we’re working on, what we’re voting on (and how), as well as have outlets to reach out and share your thoughts.

To represent you properly, we need to have conversations about issues in your towns, and we need to educate each other, so that I can create and support legislation that builds and strengthens all of District 13.

You’ve probably heard my plans – make E-Verify mandatory, secure and patrol the border, enforce immigration laws, empower law enforcement at all levels to assist with the issue…and I want to help protect social security, which will be a priority for me.  I will create a bill ensuring that money allocated to Social Security is protected, and only spent within that program. Entities borrowing from it, going all the way back to LBJ, will need to formulate plans to repay the money they used, within the next ten years.  After all, it’s YOUR money, and it’s being stolen from you. An IOU that is never repaid is not lending, it is theft masked by goodwill. There is no reason for this program that millions of Americans rely on to be going bankrupt.

Early voting has started.  Get out there, and vote for me.  Foglesong is an easy name to remember, so forget about the other names and the poll-greeters.  Send me to Washington. Put this regular guy to work for you.

Thank you for reading, and for the opportunity to represent you.
