Republican congressional hopefuls Josh Winegarner and Ronny Jackson posted similar fundraising totals in brand new finance reports this week, with the former lobbyist Winegarner still holding a slight edge in money brought in.
According to the new reports, through the finance period which ended on March 31, Winegarner reported bringing in $280,884 versus Jackson’s $228,273. Winegarner also reported spending just over $260,000 during the period, while Jackson spent over $208,000.
As far as other candidates are concerned, Vance Snider reported just over $8,000 in contributions during the period. Chris Ekstrom, a Wichita Falls businessman who was the third place finisher in the March Republican primary, reported just over $248,000 in contributions during the period. Several other candidates also filed reports prior to Wednesday.
Jackson and Winegarner will meet in the July 4 Republican primary runoff for U.S. House of Representatives, District 13. The winner will face Democrat Gus Trujillo and Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook in November.
