Gov. Greg Abbott will reportedly discuss the next steps for reopening the Texas economy on Friday.
KXAN-TV confirmed this week that Abbott will discuss reopening the state economy on Friday, but no further details are available at this time. The move comes as protesters recently met in Austin at the Governor’s Mansion to call for an economic reopening and Republican lawmakers have been urging the Governor to reopen portions of the Texas economy after closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"This is not gonna be a rush-the-gates, everybody-is-able-to-suddenly-reopen-all-at-once,” Abbott said during a press conference on Monday, giving a possible preview of his announcement.
