West Texas A&M Plans Virtual Graduation

A new type of commencement will be taking place at West Texas A&M University next month.

On Wednesday, University President Walter Wendler informed students, faculty, and staff that the WTAMU commencement would be a virtual commencement for Spring 2020. Students were given details on how to participate in an email sent out early Wednesday morning.

“We are proud of our Class of 2020 for excelling, particularly in these unprecedented times, and though world events have made this necessary, we look forward to celebrating commencement with our graduates in this new way,” WT President Dr. Walter Wendler said. “We have worked diligently to make the virtual program special and meaningful.”

This graduation announcement follows a similar announcement by Amarillo College that its graduation for Spring 2020 would be virtual. Also following in the footsteps of AC, WTAMU will allow interested students the chance to walk the stage in the December 2020 graduation if they were slated to graduate this spring.

The commencement will be broadcast at http://wtamu.edu/commencement on May 9. Viewers can view the commencement from 10AM to 10PM that day.
