Protesters gathered in front of the Amarillo Civic Center Complex on Friday and held a parade calling for a reopening of the economy locally and nationwide.
With American flags waving and signs reading phrases such as “Reopen America,” the protesters held a parade in the downtown area, completing their demonstration in front of Amarillo City Hall. The gathering included motorcyclists, pickups, and more.
This protest follows a trend of similar demonstrations across the country calling on government officials to reopen the economy. Protesters held a similar rally in Lubbock last week.
Amarillo is currently under a mayoral declaration of disaster, with non-essential businesses closed, and residents asked to stay home.
