APD Cautions Residents Over Municipal Court Phone Scam

Authorities say a new scam using the Amarillo Municipal Court’s phone number is targeting local residents.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, both APD and the Municipal Court have received calls from citizens about scam calls from what looks like the Municipal Court’s phone number, 806-378-3082, with residents being told they are the subject of an investigation. The callers are reportedly telling residents that for $3,000, they can clear up the investigation.

Residents are asked to hang up immediately if they receive a similar call. The Municipal Court will not ask for money over the phone.

If you have received a similar call, you are asked to refrain from calling APD unless you are the victim of a scam. If you are not sure if you have an active municipal warrant, a list can be found on the Municipal Court website.
