Letter to the Editor: Jackson's Qualifications, Experience Stand Out in Congressional Race

To the voters of the District 13 Congressional Runoff Election,

By now, we are sure you have heard, seen, or read that being "LOCAL" is a key element of who you should vote for in the runoff election. A few individuals and a couple of small groups have headlined and proclaimed being "LOCAL" is paramount. Even the sitting Congressman has endorsed "LOCAL,” but we are not sure where he gets his definition, because -  on purpose and by design - he moved out of our District 25 ½ years ago and has never lived here since. He may be confused on what "LOCAL" is supposed to mean. Mac endorsing someone speaks very loudly about what is going on, since he originally said he would not endorse anybody. Then when Josh tries to justify a retiring Congressman to immediately becoming a lobbyist -- that tells the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say.

We think many things are more important, but let us look at "LOCAL" for a moment. One candidate was born and raised approximately 35 miles closer to Amarillo than the other candidate. Out here in our large District, we do not think 35 miles should be a disqualifying distance and is really insignificant in the scheme of things, but if that is all you have as an advantage, we guess that is what you raise.

One candidate has lived a good life, is raising his family and has worked as a Lobbyist for the last 14 years (a big part of our problems in Washington and Austin are the lobbyists). He says he supports our military and will take care of our veterans, but he does not even know that the military decides your duty stations, and that you have nothing to do with the choices. Perhaps if he had served, he would better understand what is required in the military, who and what they are, and what is needed to take care of our Veterans. A little respect would also be advantageous.

The other candidate has worked since he was 14 years old, then provided all of his own money through high school, two years at South Plains Junior College and his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M Galveston. Next he went to the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston in trade for four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy. Dr. Ronny Jackson loved serving our country and experienced many things continuing to serve. He has been on submarines, jumped out of airplanes, repelled out of helicopters, served on the battlefield in Iraq caring for and treating our wounded soldiers with his Emergency Services Specialty in Medicine. Dr. Jackson has served in the Medical Group for three Presidents and has served as Chief Medical Advisor and Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump over the last three years prior to retirement. He has been to the Southern Border on behalf of President Trump four times to study the immigration problem and has worked on new health care initiatives for the President. He has President Trump's total support and endorsement. His knowledge and contacts are irreplaceable as a Representative for our District 13. After 25 years of exemplary service he retired with the rank of Rear Admiral. He has placed our District and Amarillo on the National Stage like no one before him and all of it has been done with an attitude of service and to make things better. Now, he wants to continue serving our people, District 13 and our Country. How fortunate are we!

Rear Admiral (Retired) Ronny Jackson has a wonderful wife of 27 years, a daughter working in an intelligence group, a son who graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, then graduated as a Navy Seal and was assigned to a Team, and a son who will be a senior in high school and plans to attend the Naval Academy. They are a committed and patriotic family.

Dr. Ronny Jackson has always maintained his Texas residency during all of his active duty and named Amarillo as his destination to move to at his paperwork release requirements completion. He and Jane have purchased a home here and are extremely excited and happy to be here and to live here. Dr. Jackson is a God loving and God fearing man, a conservative blue collar man, a Texan and a true Patriot. He is 100% pro-life, a strong 2nd amendment advocate and believes in less regulations and state’s rights. He is committed and wants to fight for the citizens of our District and for our Country (and how we need a fighter!).

Qualifications, experiences, common sense, work ethic and integrity are what is important. Dr. Ronny Jackson has all of these as well as being "LOCAL." A person’s heart and spirit also define "LOCAL" and Ronny has the right heart and spirit. If you do not believe us, then meet and get to know him and you will agree. For these reasons, please join us in voting for and supporting Dr. Ronny Jackson. He will do our District proud!
