President Donald Trump was backing Ronny Jackson on social media again on Friday, once again offering his endorsement for the retired Navy Rear Admiral’s congressional bid.
In the tweet, Trump reiterated his support for Jackson, who is currently locked in a heated runoff against former lobbyist Josh Winegarner in the race for U.S. House District 13. The tweet linked to a donation site for Jackson as he looks to stack up cash against Winegarner with less than two weeks to go before Election Day.
“As a medical doctor, Ronny is great on HealthCare and he is Strong on Cutting Taxes, the Border and the Second Amendment,” Trump said of Jackson.
Jackson and Winegarner are currently set to square off in the July 14 Republican runoff to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry in the 13th District. The winner of the runoff will face Libertarian Jack B. Westbrook and the Democratic nominee in November. Early voting in the runoff goes until July 10.
