Gov. Greg Abbott appointed an Amarillo physician assistant to a state board on Monday.
According to the Governor’s Office, Andrew Sauer, D.M.Sc., of Amarillo, has been appointed to the Texas Physician Assistant Board for a term set to expire on February 1, 2021. Sauer specializes in chronic pain and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Sauer holds degrees from Amarillo College, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and Lynchburg University.
In addition to Sauer, Abbott also appointed Steve Ahmed, M.D. and Sandra Longoria, D.M.Sc. and reappointed Melinda Moore Gottschalk to the board for terms set to expire on February 1, 2025.
The board oversees the issuance of physician assistant licenses to qualified individuals to practice in Texas.
