Authorities are investigating an accident in the 2700 block of Southwest 45th Avenue.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched on August 5 at 5:32pm to the 2700 block of Southwest 45th Avenue on an accident involving a motorcycle and pedestrian. A 61-year-old male was walking northbound across Southwest 45th Avenue, while a motorcycle, driven by a 47-year-old male, was eastbound on Southwest 45th. The motorcycle driver saw the pedestrian and switched lanes to miss him. The pedestrian fell while trying to get out of the street and struck the crash bar of the motorcycle as it passed.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle driver was uninjured.
This incident is being investigated by the APD Traffic Investigation Unit.
