Green Party's Statewide Candidates Can Appear on Ballot, Texas Supreme Court Rules

Two statewide Green Party candidates are expected to return to the November ballot after the Texas Supreme Court vacated an order this week removing the candidates from the general election ballot.

U.S. Senate candidate David B. Collins and Railroad Commission candidate Katija “Kat” Gruene are expected to appear on the ballot this November after previously being removed from the ballot on orders of a lower court. The removal of the two candidates followed a lawsuit by Democratic candidates arguing the candidates were ineligible to appear on the ballot.

Alongside Collins and Gruene, Congressional District 21 candidate Tommy Wakely was also ruled as eligible to appear in the highly-competitive November election featuring Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Chip Roy and Democrat Wendy Davis, a former gubernatorial candidate. Libertarian Arthur DiBianca will also appear on the ballot in the race, according to Ballotpedia.org.

Early voting will begin on October 13.
