Former Randall County Commissioner Christy Dyer was selected on Tuesday to replace the late Randall County Judge Ernie Houdashell.
Commissioners selected Dyer to fulfill the remaining two years of Houdashell’s term, after the Judge passed away in December. Dyer resigned from her seat last week to take a position as an alderman for the Village of Lake Tanglewood, officials said, but will now be returning to the County Commission due to her appointment.
With the selection of Dyer, Randall County citizens are still left with one vacancy on their County Commission. The Precinct 1 seat, which was vacated by Dyer last week, is now open with nearly four years left on its existing term. An appointment process for that seat has not yet been announced.
Voters will have the opportunity to decide the fate of the County Judge position next year. Dyer will be eligible to seek a full term in next year’s election.
