Randall County Commissioner Christy Dyer’s resignation was accepted by Commissioners during a meeting on Monday.
On Monday, Commissioners voted to accept Dyer’s resignation after she accepted a position on the Board of Aldermen for the Village of Lake Tanglewood. County officials said during the meeting that under Texas’ resign-to-run law, Dyer effectively resigned her position.
With Dyer’s departure from the County Commission, two seats are now vacant on the body — the one previously held by Dyer and the County Judge seat, which was vacated upon the death of Judge Ernie Houdashell late last year.
Commissioners are currently seeking a replacement for Houdashell to fulfill his unexpired term. It is unclear what the appointment process might look like to fill the years left on Dyer’s remaining term.
