Amarillo attorney Jesse Quackenbush has made his 2022 political ambitions official with his campaign announcement that he will be running for Texas Senate on Wednesday.

Quackenbush announced his candidacy for the District 31 Texas Senate seat on Wednesday, becoming the fourth official candidate in the race to replace the retiring State Sen. Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo). In his campaign announcement, Quackenbush said that he hopes his agenda, “albeit conservative, appeals to Republicans, Democrats and Independents, and that unified votes from all Panhandle voters will be enough to win.”

In addition to Quackenbush, Coahoma ISD Trustee Stormy Bradley, former Canyon ISD trustee and retired FBI agent Tim Reid, and Midland businessman Kevin Sparks are also seeking the Republican nomination for the seat. Sparks has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

Candidates have until Monday, December 13 to file to run for this office. The primary Election Day is currently scheduled for March 1, 2022.
