State Rep. Four Price (R-Amarillo) is running for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives in 2022.
Price, a local attorney who has served as a state representative since 2011, announced his bid for re-election last week, seeking his seventh term in office. In a statement, Price laid out his plans for another term, saying he will continue to deliver results for Texans, if re-elected.
“If voters send me back to the Texas Capitol, I will continue my commitment to improving Texas, and specifically our area, with sensible solutions to the challenges we all face.”
Price has been re-elected every year following his competitive race against restaurant owner Victor Leal in 2010, where Price won his first term in office. The last time Price faced a challenger was in 2018, when he handily defeated Fritch city manager Drew Brassfield in the Republican primary for his seat.
Notably, after his 2018 re-election campaign, Price unsuccessfully launched a short-lived bid to become the next Speaker of the Texas House. Price eventually dropped out of the race and endorsed Dennis Bonnen, who won the race and held the job for two years before retiring early amid a public corruption scandal.
Price represents District 87, which has grown by a few counties as a result of redistricting. The counties now included in District 87 are Potter, Carson, Moore, Hutchinson, Sherman, Hansford, Ochiltree, and Lipscomb.
Candidates interested in running for Price’s seat can file to run from November 13 until December 13. Election Day is scheduled for March 1, 2022.
