Local authorities are seeking the public’s help in an ongoing investigation into a fatal hit and run that occurred on Friday in Amarillo.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched on Friday, December 17, at 11:37p.m. to Southwest 16th Avenue and Georgia on the report of a crash involving a bicyclist. Mohammad Mohammadi, 28, had been riding his bicycle northbound in the right-hand lane of Georgia just south of 16th Avenue when he was struck. The involved vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived.

Mohammadi was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, later dying from his injuries on Monday.
