Timothy Gassaway has filed to run for County Commissioner in Potter County’s Precinct 4.

According to filings with the Texas Secretary of State, Gassaway, who is the founder of the Amarillo Area Black Chamber of Commerce, has filed to run for the commission seat currently held by Democrat Alphonso Vaughn. Gassaway will be running in the Democratic primary for the position.

Gassaway previously sought election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2020, finishing last in a three-way Democratic primary against Greg Sagan and Gus Trujillo that year.

Vaughn has not yet publicly stated whether he will seek re-election in 2022.
